Açaí bowls have been all the rage for the past 5 years now, but only recently did I actually have one and let me just say, I instantly wished I jumped on the acai train WAY sooner.
Picture a thick smoothie bowl that’s naturally vibrant and is loaded with all of your favorite toppings. That’s what an Acai bowl is- but really, Acai is just the berry used in traditional Acai bowls from Brazil.
An Acai bowl is really just a thick Acai smoothie bowl but the reason why Acai took the world by storm is due to its natural healing and rejuvenating properties.
Acai was popular in Brazil due to its powerful immunity boosting antioxidants. This loaded superfood gained popularity in the US due to its vibrant colors, rich and creamy taste, and health benefits becoming the top snack and breakfast item- notably in the sunny state of California.
But as a gym goer who needed to see results, I was very particular about my diet. And sometimes, that meant saying no to an açaí bowl- which after the second time, I never wanted to do again!
So, I found a way to make it work. After countless trial-and-errors I finally nailed down the perfect Protein Açaí Bowl Recipe that was macro friendly and supported muscle growth!
How to make a protein Açaí bowl at home
The recipe is quite simple, but it contains 21g of plant-based protein, 24 vitamins and minerals, 2g of total fat, and is less than 300 calories!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 Scoop Açaí Berry Protein
- 5 oz Cashew Milk
- ½ Cup Frozen Blueberries
- 6 Ice Cubes
- ½ tsp Xanthan Gum
- ½ tsp Sea Salt
Once you have all your ingredients, simply add them all to your blender and blend until you get a nice thick creamy consistency.
Grab yourself a nice little bowl, a spoon, and top it all off with your favorite toppings! I like to sprinkle on some fresh blueberries, kiwi, coconut, granola, and a drizzle of honey.
And there you have it! A delicious vegan and protein rich Açaí bowl that’ll brighten up your day, keep you full, and give your body all the nutrients it needs to look and feel great ☼
This has been my go-to breakfast since I started making it. I’ll make 4 or 5 servings and freeze them so they’re ready to go for my busier weeks but nothing beats those days where I can take my time and have fun with decorating my Açaí bowl.
You can find all the ingredients listed above at your local grocery store except for the protein which I got from ONESOL™ Supplements. They’re a female owned vegan health&fitness supplement company and I get all my stuff from there- from protein, to pre workout and BCAAs, to my immunity gummies and my metabolism booster, they’re my go-to in the game.
